How Employers & Applicants Can Move The Needle Faster in 2024

It’s my job to stay on top of recruiting best practices. It’s why I read up on and study my craft voraciously. In the world of recruiting and career guidance, I know what will never change and what always changes.

What would I like to see in this changing market?

Employers and hiring managers make decisions within a week. I would like them to stop posting for the purposes of “fishing for applicants,” I would like them to be 100% focused when they are hiring, meaning, put time aside to interview and not just “fit them in!” I would like to see them have a complete understanding of the role they are hiring for before they post it. I want them to make sure that everyone who will be involved in the hiring process is available and not have to wait around.

This market is unique and while you are all nodding your head, I would like for all of us to embrace the changing market and not fight it.

Employers need to make decisions and applicants need to only apply for the roles that are within 60-85% of what they are looking for. Can you imagine if this actually happened? Employers would be happy with the hiring decisions and applicants would get the role where they will feel valued.

Consistency in this process is necessary.  Change happens, I love change, even when it is a negative change. You grow, you learn, and you challenge yourself to rise above.

I offer guidance to help employers hire the person they want, as well as the guidance to help individuals to find themselves, and remind them of how good and intelligent they really are.
