Interim Options For Job Seekers Searching For Their Dream Job
I love what I do. I love and respect what I do. Every day I learn something new about what I do. I also get reminders of why I do what I do, and today I have a reminder for you all.
In this daunting job market, everything and anything can happen, and so far, it is! One small way of making yourself feel a tad better is to find that part-time job. Or the contract role. Or a volunteer role that you respect and will get you out of your home. Or even a full time job while you wait for a new career. All of these are 100% acceptable. You have to do what you need to do to make it, and money usually helps!
So, here I am giving you permission to do so. Reach out to the agencies of the world, that is why they are there, to put you to work. And guess what, sometimes these roles can get converted into a full time career role. We all have heard, try before you buy, right? Well, you get to do the same thing. So what is stopping you? Get in front of the situation, remind yourself how smart, giving and more you have to offer, you never know what will happen.
Below is what I am speaking about.
Hi Jennifer,
“Just an update: I got a job from a post on ZipRecruiter (!!). Completely random, and I didn't even remember applying to it (one click apply). It was a contract to permanent gig that started on 4/22 and I started my first week as a permanent employee 7/1.
It's a perfect fit. Like a cosmic kismet, make me believe in destiny level perfect fit. I'm working as a project manager for the CFO of XXXXX a $50M, nationwide nonprofit that has more than doubled in size over the last 2 years and needs to catch up on financial and admin infrastructure ASAP. I get to do what I do what I love: identify opportunities to solve problems, reduce administrative burden for employees, implement sensible technology, make sure it's delivering. I have a seat at the table.
The culture is a perfect fit, too. Low key, diligent and hard working, passionate about mission, and nice. Haven't met a single person that I get weird vibes from.
It's not top dollar ($125k), but money wasn't one of my no-goes. Assholes, long commutes, and shit work were my no-goes. Thank you for everything.”
p.s. the idea that she doesn’t have the assholes and shit work made me happy.
